On 17 May Warwick District rebels caught the early train to Birmingham to picket insurance companies alongside other XR groups, as part of the Insure our Future campaign.

Air Pollution Outreach

The last few months have seen local group XR members out on the streets in Warwick District's three largest towns, talking to people about the dangers of air pollution and mapping air quality, using the very useful website We invited people to enter their postcode on the website, which then flags up a colour-coded result indicating an overall pollution level at that location.

London’s Insure Our Future March 2024

I arrived early on a sunny morning in Trinity Square Gardens, in readiness for a 10.30 demo start. Happily, the first group I came across were from the West Midlands and it was fantastic to meet people whose faces I’d previously seen on the Coordinators’ Zoom sessions.

On Sunday 17 December 2023, we spoke to local people about air pollution in our area outside Leamington Town Hall and mapped the pollution where they lived.

Stop Birmingham Airport Expansion Protest

XR Warwick District  joined the first Stop Birmingham Airport Expansion protest, in wind and rain, to hold placards and chant in front of Birmingham’s Airport Consultative Committee meeting on Thursday 7 December.

XRWD vs Air Pollution

We had a really constructive What Next? meeting on Wednesday 8th November, it was great to see new faces and more familiar ones.

We decided to focus on air pollution in Warwick District going forward, drawing on resources from other XR groups and data on pollution postcode by postcode.

Outreach / Climate Roulette / Coffee

On 14th October XR Warwick District set up a roulette wheel outside Leamington Town Hall and invited citizens to play Climate Roulette.


On Friday 7th July 2023, XR Warwick District joined a march from the Godiva Statue to Severn Trent's headquarters in Coventry.   

  • In 2020, Severn Trent dumped raw sewage into the rivers for more than 500,000 hours 
  • Meanwhile, they paid out £261 million in dividends last year and CEO Liz Garfield pocketed £3.9 million in pay
