Barclays Action Jan 23 - Extinction Rebellion Warwick District

Extinction Rebellion Warwick District

We are facing an unprecedented global climate emergency.

The government has failed to protect us.

To survive, it's going to take everything we've got.

Join the Rebellion

We went back to Barclays on Saturday 21 January 2023 to highlight their terrible record of funding fossil fuels.  They are the biggest funders of fossil fuels in Europe, despite their efforts at Greenwashing.  Fellow rebels from Stratford and Coventry came out to support the action, in somewhat ironic weather.

In the face of a worsening climate emergency, with millions displaced and thousands killed in flooding in Pakistan last year, Barclays continues to make blah blah blah statements about 2050.  We must act now, with levels of carbon dioxide already in the atmosphere making staying beneath 1.5C of warming vanishingly unlikely.

We had useful conversations with members of the public about switching to better banks, such as Nationwide and publicised the Big One, encouraging people to join us in London on the 21 April and beyond.  https://extinctionrebellion.uk/the-big-one/

NOT YET RECYCLED?

If you're like us, then you will be fed up with buying products from the supermarket with those dreaded words 'not yet recycled' on the packaging.

Our rebels came up with a great idea and we want you to join us! Please save this 'not yet recycled' packaging and bring it to us (maybe collect it in a separate box next to your normal recyclingđź’ˇ).

There will be a drop off point at every Local Group Meeting.

Watch this space for what we are going to do with it! Be assured it will be fun and it'll relieve any guilt you might have, now that you don't have to throw it away.
