CUT THE CRAP SEVERN TRENT - Extinction Rebellion Warwick District

Extinction Rebellion Warwick District

We are facing an unprecedented global climate emergency.

The government has failed to protect us.

To survive, it's going to take everything we've got.

Join the Rebellion

On Friday 7th July 2023, XR Warwick District joined a march from the Godiva Statue to Severn Trent's headquarters in Coventry.

  • In 2020, Severn Trent dumped raw sewage into the rivers for more than 500,000 hours
  • Meanwhile, they paid out £261 million in dividends last year and CEO Liz Garfield pocketed £3.9 million in pay

Accompanied by a samba band, we marched and rallied to tell Seven Trent to clean up their act.  Members of XR Warwick District came as, respectively, a seahorse, and in hazmat outfits and helped steward the march.

We crowned Richard the Turd, symbolising Severn Trent's despicable status, and delivered some shit replicas to their carefully designed corporate frontages.

The march was organised by:

Coventry Green Party

Coventry Trades Union Congress

There was even a speaker from the Conservative Party, underlining that protecting our ecosystems goes beyond party politics.

BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Radio were in attendance, along with the Coventry Telegraph, who published this article.

NOT YET RECYCLED?

If you're like us, then you will be fed up with buying products from the supermarket with those dreaded words 'not yet recycled' on the packaging.

Our rebels came up with a great idea and we want you to join us! Please save this 'not yet recycled' packaging and bring it to us (maybe collect it in a separate box next to your normal recycling💡).

There will be a drop off point at every Local Group Meeting.

Watch this space for what we are going to do with it! Be assured it will be fun and it'll relieve any guilt you might have, now that you don't have to throw it away.
